WASHINGTON -- Four Winds International is recalling 205 model year 2007 to
2010 Mandalay, Montecito and Presidio motorhomes to correct a problem with
the hydraulic brake pedals and linkages.
The motorhomes were built between Oct. 5, 2004 and Nov. 25, 2009 on
Freightliner chassis manufactured between May 2007 and November 2009.
(Editor's note: These are the dates included in the bulletin. Neither Four Winds
nor the NHTSA explained how an RV could be built in 2004 on a chassis
manufactured in 2007.)
The chassis are equipped with Kongsberg Power Products Systems adjustable
brake pedals. The drive pin which secures the brake pedal arm to the balance of
the assembly may become disengaged, which may cause a reduction in vehicle
braking or cause the brake pedal to move out of position and interfere with the
throttle pedal function.
A reduction in braking or interference with the throttle pedal could result in a
vehicle crash.
Daimler Trucks, the parent company of Freightliner, will notify owners and
administer the recall campaign.Dealers will receive kits and will inspect and install
a C-clamp on the adjustable brake pedal. This service will be performed free of
charge.
For more information, owners may call Daimler Trucks warranty claims
department at 800.547.0712. They should reference Daimler defect report 09V-461.
